We recently traveled to Texas to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the first landing on the moon. Since we were going we decided to make a trip of it, and rented a car and drove through Dallas, Waco, Fredricksberg, San Antonion, Austin, and Houston. It was an amazing trip that Nate had planned out so well (thank you Nate!) and I learned so much Texan history. In preparation for this trip Nate bought Mason and Stanley the lego set, of the Saturn V rocket ship (exact replica) and really enjoyed putting it together. It is now displayed proudly in our library at home. We visited the George W Bush Presidential Library in Dallas (on a previous trip on our way to Hawaii, but we'll count it since this is a Texas blog), and saw the place were John F Kennedy as assassinated. We went through Waco and had delicious Czech food, and stopped at Magnolia (so fun).
Later we drove to Austin to visit the Capital building
Then to Fredricksberg (a beautiful little German settled town, now wine country with little Church steeples sticking out just like in Germany). We stayed at this amazing Holiday Inn with an incredible pool area in the back which of course our kids loved. We also visited the Pacific War Museum (amazing!) and ate some delicious German food. Of all of the places in Texas we visited, this was probably my favorite.
San Antonio was also a lot with Sea World as well as the old Missions from the 1600s.

Of course we had to stop at Buc-ee's! |
Our last stop was Houston, where we visited Nasa and spent the day their exploring and enjoying learning about Space. Mason said that he would not like to go to space, but he would be glad to watch Stanley take a trip to space. We all thought that was funny.
