Loved hiking to stuart falls yesterday. Mason loved it too! He slept most of the hike going up, then when we got there, I nursed him, and he looked up and saw dogs, water, and he was with his Mom and Dad...and his face looked as if he thought he was in heaven. It was a wonderful morning!

life on the farm
I am a daughter of an incredibly intelligent, good, and humble sheep-rancher, accountant, and farmer. When my Dad had 9 children his family sold their sheep business and he went back to school to become an accountant. He spent the remainder of his working days as an accountant at BYU during the day, and then coming home to garden and tend animals at night. I grew up on a farm in the middle of a city. It was a wonderful childhood, and a wonderful way to grow up. I loved feeding the tiny little lambs their bottles of milk, I loved tending the bees that my Dad took care of, I loved gathering eggs and milking cows. I didn't always love hoeing for hours, or picking up the branches we had pruned, but the harvest season always made the work so worth it. I loved eating the first peaches, or tomatoes of the season, and eating the corn on the cob. It was always so wonderful to check off all of the chores off of my list (practice, read, math, 2 hrs of gardening, big 5, scriptures, prayer, brush teeth etc), then get my swimsuit on and spend the rest of the day swimming at BYU. When I finished swimming, I would go to the BYU creamery with my siblings and buy ice-cream. Then we would walk to my Dad's office and he would drive us home. Those are beautiful memories to me.
Nate and I live in the same house now that I grew up in. I love that Mason gets to share some of the same childhood memories that I had. My cousins own animals, and I just planted a little garden. Then we will go to seven peaks after our chores are done. I can't wait.

Mother's Day 2013
Children, how we love them
Pure, bright spirits from above
what would heaven be without them
or this world without their love
These words summarize my feelings towards the privilege of being a Mother. Who wouldn't love to be Mason's Mom? He is just an unbelievably good kid. I am totally honored. My life has never been so rich, so full, or so good. I would never go back. I am grateful every day for the life I have been given, and for the joy that this sweet little boy brings me. On Mother's Day I missed my own Mom especially who is still on her mission in the Philippines. Words can never express that depth of gratitude, love, and respect I feel for my Mother. She is a woman with a mother heart. I love her, and I hope someday to be like her.
my 27th birthday: La Jolla Groves
On April 30th I turned 27. It was such a perfect opportunity for me to reflect on my life: my family, my friends, and the incredible opportunities and blessings that God has given me in my life. It made me feel so incredibly humbled and grateful, and made me want to give back. It was really a wonderful day. Nate took me to 'La Jolla Groves' at the Riverwoods to celebrate. Can I say yum? It was perfect - the ambiance, the food, and best of all just being there with my sweetie. Angie, my sister-in-law, was so sweet to watch Mason for us that night. What a good day!
