falling into fall

Here are some fun things we did this week!

Here's Mason's friend Cav Man. I feel like we see him so often they know each other now. Here's another soccer game we went to (mens this time), and yes we won again! Wahoowa!

Mason helped me bake caramel snickerdoodles for his bake sale

Jeni came up with the brilliant idea of having a bake sale to raise money for their Halloween Costumes

What do you do when your heater stops functioning correctly on a cold day? Call the landlord, make hot apple cider and listen to Christmas Music of course. It cheered us right up.

Shakespeare's earliest editions came to UVA so OF COURSE we had to check it out.
Stanley was sleeping in the car, so Nate checked it out first with Mason, then Mason gave me the tour the second time. He did an amazing job by the way.

Yesterday we drove to DC to attend the Temple and had to stop at Oklahoma Joe's of course. We tried to get there in Kansas City, but the line was about a gazillion people long, so I was so happy when we got here and there was no line at all. Plus it was new.

Play ground switch off with Nate while we swapped turns going to the Temple

Halloween on the Hill was madness. I've never seen so many people fit in that small of a space. That might be a slight exaggeration, but it was busy. I must say how much fun it is to see so many children.

checking out the horses

Le Pain Quotidien

Go Wolf Pups!

our last day of soccer, and Stanley and Mason both got medals. We loved both of their coaches

Being their goalie is no easy job I tell you

Aunt Alissa comes to town

So much fun having Aunt Alissa come to town last weekend! We are missing her already.

a lot of love right there - my boys were so excited when she arrived

Nate met up with her at Monticello first

that night we went downtown for some pizza, ice cream, and of course Mason's favorite - street music

we also checked out the newly finished Rotunda. my first time seeing the inside.

then a trip to DC wherein Mason insists sometimes on pushing the strollers. he is the sweetest.

while Nate and Alissa visited the Holocaust Museum, I took my boys to the American History Museum to see the inventors section and also visit the Children's Museum

lunch at Union Station

Alissa visited the National Gallery of Art, while we went to the Botanical Gardens

love this new addition - Mason caught this picture

and this one. he is so good at noticing things i wouldn't

great time. come back again Alissa!!

Greenfield Farms

Last Saturday after we drove home late Friday night from the Outer Banks, we woke up early for soccer, then drove to Greenfield Farms for a Virginia Law Families event. It was one of the best fall days I've ever experienced. Something about the beautiful farms here in Virginia. We also met some other great families here - so impressed with them. We had those amazing Bodo Bagels and enjoyed a full day of fun activities. Thank you VLF for such an unforgettable day and thank you to the owners of Greenfield Farms for doing such a fantastic job making my boys so happy that day.

the maze had questions along the way - like, who was the first President of the United States. I loved that it was fun and educational at the same time, and my boys loved it too. At the end they got a treat if they turned all of them in.

just look at that corn. fall time is really winning over my heart
