Riverside Cathedral and Dinosaurs Barbecue

The next day we walked in the rain to find Hamilton's House, only to discover it was closed. Bummer. We trudged on, and happily found ourselves at a restaurant that was actually large enough to fit our stroller comfortably - Dinosaurs Barbecue. It was good fun, and our waitress was from the CR, so Nate enjoyed talking to her about his mission. Mason was the cuuutest little missionary, and found a pass along card in my wallet and gave it to her with our receipt.

Riverside Church was extraordinary - with amazing paintings from Heinrich Hoffmann that I grew up seeing a lot of. One of my favorite paintings growing up, was the one of Christ talking to the rich man. Later, Nate took the boys to the Natural History Museum, while he let me check out the Frick Gallery. I was amazed by how many pieces were there that I studied in my art classes at BYU. It was like "oh hey! there you are! i know you!" kind of day.

New Years 2017

New Year's was fun taking our kids to the MOMA, Intreprid Air and Space Museum, and Dylan's candy shop. The Air and Space Museum and candy shop were both big hits. Especially the candy shop :).

the worker gave all of us any candy we wanted to choose. We have this running joke that people just hand free stuff to Nate wherever we go - and it held true here.

New Year's Eve 2016

On New Year's Eve we celebrated by going to the Tenement Museum. We switched off babysitting kids with our friends since it's a no kid museum. While we were taking all of them on the subway, we got a lot of stares :). I kept thinking of my Mom living in NYC with 11 children and wanted to burst out laughing a few times.

For lunch we went to Kats Deli. If you have that meat on anything by Rye bread I hear you get a few glares :). It's amazing. and huge. Nate and I shared that sandwich.

Fun to watch how my boys eat their food. Stanley I believe prefers the buns :).

It was fun to visit the original Shake Shack with our friends and grab some hot chocolate. Nothing like hot chocolate on a cold winter day!

And Mason found his new hobby! Cute how much these two have fun together. This trip has been so much better because they've had each other.

We also climbed the Rock to see the amazing views and spy in on all the partying at Times Square in the city. Although we weren't brave enough to take our kids into Times Square, we did get them to bed early, and watch some fireworks at Central Park. We also drank some sparkling cider and toasted to the new year (traditions)!

Museum Day

Today we spent most of our day in museums: The extension of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (loved it), the 5th Avenue Metropolitan Museum of Art (loved it), and the Neue Gallery (loved this one too). Finally the New York Historical Museum (also amazing). Sometimes I think New York City should share the wealth of all of its amazing food, hotels, entertainment, and museums, but at the same time, it's kind of fun that it's all in one place, too.

While Nate visited the Neue Gallery, I took my boys to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. While Stanley slept, Mason led the way, asking questions about this piece and that. I loved it, and he enjoyed it as well. I especially enjoyed the Jerusalem Exhibit 1000-1400 AD.

For lunch we went to Shake Shack.

A little healthy, a little not healthy. The continual challenge of a Mother to feed my child healthy foods :)

As we walked through Central Park in started SNOWING!!! Our first snow of the year. It was there for maybe thirty minutes, and then it stopped (per Nate's request). We enjoyed it while it lasted though!

The New York Historical Museum floored us. It was PERFECT for our boys too because they had this AMAZING train display right now that they were completely excited about and glued to. So glad Nate suggested this one. The film was amazing on the history of NYC, and the other artifacts. I especially enjoyed the the first Jews in Manhattan section and my boys also enjoyed the Children's section downstairs which was also phenomenal. Nate enjoyed the exhibit on Mohamed Ali.

The children's section. Always love when they have these in museums! It's a parent's dream come true. Nate and I switch off playing with them and visiting the special exhibits.
