A Summer in DC

This summer we get to live in Washington DC for about 6 weeks while Nate interns here. So far (the last two days) I've taken my boys to the DC mall. This has to be my favorite American city. It is just amazing here. The great thing is that most things fit our budget really well - free. It's beautiful here and there are unbelievable amounts of things to see and do. I've done a bit of research and I have a list of places I want to take my boys to while we are here. It's a big list so we have to get a good start. Yesterday I took them to the Wegmans Imagination Center - which is part of the Smithsonian's American History Museum. It's a place designed for children 0 to 6 - so perfect for my two boys. They absolutely loved it. That made me happy. Another thing I love about this city is meeting people from all over the world. Yesterday we met a sweet older couple from India who we walked around with for a while. They even bought a banana for my boys from a vendor, and invited us to come and visit them in Minnesota. So sweet. Today I met a wonderful couple at breakfast at the hotel where we are staying, from Holland. Their eyes lit up when I told them that I had lived there for a year to study music. Mine did as well. That Country is my second home. I love it there - and my friends there. Beautiful place and beautiful people. So we're having a good time. We miss the friends we have in Charlottesville, but we're doing good things here and trying to learn as much as we can. I think what a wonderful education for my boys at this age. We just stay all day in DC, Stan naps in the stroller, we picnic, and then we come back, pick Nate up, and head back to the hotel. It's a good life.

Stanley saw Mason go down the slide on his tummy, so he had to try it of course, too!

I say "say cheese, Stan!" and this is what happens :). Cheesiest smile ever! :) LOVE him!!! love them both.

see what I mean by sensitive eyes? Nate closed the other eye in pictures when he was little. So cute!

Mason spotted about a gazillion fish there! Uncle Jason would be proud.
