Arlington Cemetary on Memorial Day

Every year I am alive I fall more and more in love with this Country and feel a deeper gratitude for those who have died for my life, liberty, and the persuit of my happiness. Today to honor Memorial Day, we went to Arlington National Cemetery. It was humbling to see thousands of graves of known and unknown Soldiers. Now that Nate is officially in the Air Force, it hits a little closer to home. I think of those thousands of wives, mothers, fathers, sons, and children who were affected by their loss and it leaves me a little emotional. Communities changed by their absence. I'm so grateful we could go. President Obama was there for the laying of the wreath ceremony which we watched from a distance since we didn't quite make it inside. Perhaps better though because Stan was tired after a late night last night and a little roller coaster of emotion. Interesting also to go through the Robert E Lee's home, and to see President Kennedy's grave. The view of the city is exquisite from there. Love  this Country and feel forever indebted to those who gave their lives "that that Nation might live" (Gettysburg Address).

As we walked in, they gave us a rose to lay on the tomb of a Soldier.

During the laying of the wreath ceremony at which President Obama was present. We heard bits and pieces from here while Stan pushed the stroller around.
