Growing up with a big garden and fruit trees was ideal to me as a child. I have such fond memories growing up - planting, hoeing, watering, and picking fresh fruits and vegetables. Although my boys don't get to do all of these things, I wanted them to experience a little piece of it at least. There is something about being out in the open, and working hard in the heat of the day for what you eat that to me is so soul satisfying. Mason, Stanley and I scouted out a farm where we could do a little bit of fruit picking as well. It was hot, but we left happy inside, and grateful. I have such a respect for farmers and their honest hard work. It was a good day. That night we ate some Irish food at Benigans. It's so fun to try all of this international food here in DC.
