Today we were on our way to go downtown to the African Art Museum but realizing what a gorgeous day it was, opted to enjoy the outdoors instead. This last weekend we moved into the home of my sister's sister in-law, while they are away visiting family in Colorado. It's a beautiful home, so perfect for our needs, and we feel so grateful to be here. One of my favorite parts about it, is the huge grassy area in front of their house. We ended up being outside for about 2 1/2 hours - swinging, blowing bubbles, playing on the monkey bars and enjoying a picnic, until they were ready to go back in. It was a beautiful 70 degree day, and so being outside was just so refreshing. Today it was the simple joy that made life so rich. It brought me back to my childhood and the hours I would spend outside every day during the spring, summer, and fall, even winter whenever possible. As soon as Stanley woke up from his nap, we were back outside again. Maybe we will go downtown tomorrow. Summer is quickly inching its way toward my favorite season. It's also looking very likely that this summer could make its way up there to one of my favorite summers yet.
